The Haryana Mass Rapid Transport Corporation (HMRTC) has approved the draft Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the much-anticipated 36-kilometer extension of the Gurugram Metro, connecting Sector-56 to Pachgaon. This ambitious project is expected to significantly boost connectivity across Gurugram’s key residential, commercial, and industrial zones.

2.Connectivity and Interchanges:

Vatika Chowk: Interchange with the proposed Bhondsi–Old Gurugram metro line.

Kherki Daula: Interchange with the Rapid Rail Transit System (RRTS).

3.Cost and Funding:

•The estimated cost of the project is ₹8,500 crore.

•The Haryana Government is exploring options to fund the project independently without relying on central government funds.

4.Development and Impact:

•The DPR has been prepared by RITES (Rail India Technical and Economic Service).

•It includes environmental and social impact assessments to ensure sustainable development.

•The metro extension is expected to decongest road traffic, improve public transportation, and foster economic growth in Gurugram.

Enhanced Connectivity for Residents and Businesses

This metro corridor will provide seamless connectivity for commuters traveling between Gurugram’s residential hubs, commercial districts, and industrial areas like IMT Manesar. The extension will further link developing sectors along the Dwarka Expressway and strengthen Gurugram’s position as a modern urban center.

The approval of the DPR marks a significant step forward in Haryana’s commitment to enhancing public transportation infrastructure. Once operational, the Sector-56 to Pachgaon metro line will improve accessibility and contribute to Gurugram’s sustainable urban development.
